Going to post about this story, since it was published today!

“Princess of Illusion” is the first book in my Alegasia series. In this installation, we meet Marceline, Kaden, and an assortment of delightful characters. Marceline is a decoy princess, taking the place of her royal majesty, Princess Emberline of Everleigh. It is Marceline’s duty to ride through Alegasia’s four kingdoms, each represented by a different season, with the intent of marrying the wicked Prince Jonathan of Karis. Karis knights, led by the handsome and stoic General Kaden, have been sent to fetch her, bringing with them dragons and adventure.

I have a particular fondness for Marceline, as she is an innocent, kind soul who strives to accomplish her mission regardless of danger and a heavy secret she carries. She loves animals, baking, riding horses, and the simpler things in life. She doesn’t entirely fit in with her princess persona, though she has been trained since childhood to serve as a substitute Emberline, should the need arise. She quickly wins over the hearts of Kaden and his men with her gentility and sweetness.

We can’t have a princess without her faithful knight, of course.

General Kaden is infamous for his cruelty and his efficiency in battle. He is considered an enemy, but Marceline fast sees past his armor, finding him to be a reliable, quiet man who will protect her at all costs. He guards her with a fierceness that is commendable and with a self-restraint that is admirable. He will see her to Karis, come hell or high water, battling his own wants every step of the way.

This is a slow-burn romance, with the relationship progressing from possible enemies into a tender friendship. Naturally, sparks fly as close proximity and dangerous situations cast the two into intimate scenarios. I am very much in favor of my characters having as realistic a relationship as possible (in a fantasy world where everything is natural, right?), and hopefully I’ve succeeded with Kaden and Marceline. Time will tell!

For “Princess of Illusion,” you can expect adventure, romance, magical creatures, powerful objects, and a flowering romance. Check it out on Amazon and Kindle! The hope is to have the audio book ready to go this summer. 🙂
